Schedule a free 15-minute consultation
A consultation is a free and brief (10 to 15-minute) telephone meeting to determine if one of our therapists would be a good fit for you. If you haven’t done so already, please check out our therapists’ bios to read about their professional experiences and approaches to treatment. Once you’ve got a sense of who you might like to work with, we would be happy to set up a time to to chat so we can answer your questions and learn more about you. Consults are generally informal and will give us a chance to get to know each other before investing your time, energy, and money into your first appointment. It’s also an opportunity for the therapist to get a sense of your presenting problem areas or background to make sure they can competently treat you.
The objective of the consult is to gauge fit by exchanging information; you should not expect any real therapy to take place during the brief call and it does not constitute the beginning of a therapeutic relationship. Therapeutic work will start during the first full session after the consult (i.e., the diagnostic intake). One of the most important parts of a consultation is that it gives the you a chance to ask the therapist some questions to help you determine if you’d like to move forward with us. The following will help us better gauge our fit and set you up with a therapist.
We might ask about:
What’s bringing you in to therapy? Why now?
What are you hoping to work on?
Tell us about your mental health background.
What kind of support are you looking for? If you’re interested in a particular style or treatment approach, we’d love to hear what draws you to that.
What questions can we answer for you?
On the contact form (next page), please make sure to mention that you would like to set up your free 15-minute consultation. Once we find the right match, we'll set you up with a provider.
